47% of Workers have Left a Job Because of Management

Have you ever left a job because of bad management? 

The Chartered Management Institute in the U.K. just released a study showing that almost half of the workforce in that region has left a job because of bad management. 

 I swear, one of these days I should stop being surprised by these statistics, but the numbers are simply so high, it is difficult to get one's head around the cost.

The story of course, isn't one of "evil managers" and "beleaguered employees" at war with each other.  This is usually a story of good people, making bad choices, and doing so because of a lack of skill and communication in the workplace.  This is also a story about a colossal waste of revenue, as good workers turn over and companies are required to re-recruit and re-train.

Some of the "worst" managers I've ever worked with were wonderful people, and completely capable of becoming great once they acknowledged they had work to do.

Let's do the work to reduce these numbers.  I know that it's something you're working on, dear readers.  I love the idea of changing the world, but it seems there is still a lot of work ahead of us!

Thanks Cheri. One of our findings was that many managers, are actually accidental managers, falling into their posts as much by chance as anything. It really reinforces the need to have a good talent management strategy.

I never left job because of management. I think management should be friendly with the people working with them.And the managers who behave wild should be removed from the job
